This photo may be Brad Pitt’s past, but it’s Shiloh’s future.
Shirt and all.
Well, probably minus the trophy.
Happy Wednesday to us all

UPDATE to the Oscars race… I now want this woman to win. Allow me to explain…
I have an obsession with old movies (see: every post I’ve made about The Artist) in which I sometimes get really sad that I grew up in the wrong decade. I don’t like… huddle in the corner clutching venetian blinds and newsboy caps, hoping to be transported back or anything but… I just think something about the dialogue back then and the fashion and the overall glamour (with a U so it’s serious) was something SO special and fantastic. That being said, I typically have a hard time with modern actors portraying my icons, namely Marilyn, Katharine Hepburn and Audrey Hepburn.
Actually I’ll amend that… I loved Cate Blanchett as Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator and (clearly) loved Michelle Williams in this… I think I’m really just looking at you, Jennifer Love Hewitt, don’t EVER attempt Audrey Hepburn again. For the love. Of God.
BUT I digress. My point here is that I got lost… and I mean 100% lost in Michelle Williams’s portrayal of Marilyn Monroe. And not just her on-screen persona but the “behind the scenes” parts too; her child-like need for attention, her insecurities, her near-manipulation of the men around her. Her voice, her movements, everything was right on point.
I also happen to have a bit of an obsessive personality which found me running home, watching Some Like it Hot and then wearing an outfit inspired by her to work today… so take my endorsement for what you will but clearly it inspired something in me, so for that I tip my newsboy cap in Michelle Williams’s general direction.

First, a quick note… it is MUCH easier to find pictures of the Best Actor nominees in one spot than it is the Best Actresses. The men hung out at the Oscars Luncheon, they even took naps on each other (swoon). Point being is that the ladies need to step it up a little… camaraderie is a fun thing, gals, get on it. That being said, I have to also admit I didn’t do my homework as thoroughly in this category, MUCH to my chagrin. I’ve only seen one (ONE!!) of the 5 actresses do their nominated thang, and that was Viola Davis (and she was amazing).
I’ll probably update later as I still FULLY intend on seeing Dragon Tattoo and My Week With Marilyn, but until then, I’ll give quick haikus of how I feel about each performance just from the perspective of a frequent trailer viewer. So take that for what you will.
Glenn Close
What a dude you make
Era-specific indeed
Only Oscar knows
Viola Davis
Let’s just be honest
I want you to win Oscar
Cause I saw The Help
Rooney Mara
I heard you’re real good

Need to see it soon
Meryl Streep
You took on Thatcher
Political Julia Child?

Michelle Williams
I want you to win
Because you’re great and also
K Holmes never will
Got dark toward the end their y’all, don’t worry, I won’t quit my day job. I’ll also be better prepared for the other categories. More riveting Oscar coverage to come!
Supercut of the Day: Down the reference hole: Just under three minutes of TV shows referencing other TV shows.
[pleatedjeans.]
A little TV on TV action.
Just a little throwback to yesterday’s post… I love Gary Oldman but LOOK at that man… such a debonair gent. Le Swoon.

I’m actually pretty pleased that I’ve seen 4 out of the 5 of the Best Actor nominated movies… homegirl does her homework before Super Bowl of Cinema (i.e. Oscar) season. And the 5th contender, Mr. Demián Bichir, came out of nowhere so… good luck to you, sir, but I have not seen your movie nor do I have a sincere opinion of your performance. Although I hear you were on Weeds and that is awesome. Anyway, here’s what I’m thinking on the others…
George Clooney, The Descendants- in a role unlike others he’s played (i.e. some version of himself), I was SO impressed with this character and how openly raw he made this man, whose previously closed off demeanor blinded him to the demise of the world around him. The revelations kept coming and he made me believe every blow that was dealt and victory (even small ones) achieved. He also made a Hawaiian shirt look semi-decent, not an easy task.
Brad Pitt, Moneyball - basically everything I just said about George but he didn’t pull me in like George did. Great job, looked awesome (is he slowly turning into Robert Redford or is that just me?) and made me more intrigued by baseball stats than I ever could have imagined. I was also surprised at how much I liked this movie in general and B-Rad’s performance knocked it out of the park (bam, pun). Whilst we share the same birthday, sir, I can’t present this Oscar to you.
Gary Oldman, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - I am SHOCKED this is his first nomination but I also have to say my favorite role of his is in The Fifth Element where he basically plays a buck-tooth crazy person so… who am I to say the Academy has made a huge oversight of his career (but they have). That being said, this movie confused the SHIT out of me. The cast was amazing, the performances were sublime (yay, who gets to use sublime in a sentence anymore?!) but man… I don’t know, this is a tough one. I want him to win for personal reasons but maybe not this role (Sorry, Sirius)
Jean Dujardin, The Artist - If you’ve seen my recent posts, or know me at all, you know that this is my favorite movie of the race. This love letter to old-timey Hollywood is right up my alley, and Jean Dujardin’s striking resemblance to Gene Kelly (and his tap-dancing skills) make him a favorite in my book. Since he’s been cleaning up at most of the other award shows, I feel like he’ll take this one home but George will for sure give him a run for his money. Ultimately, though, This guy is my pick to win. (In bold, so it’s real).
